Communications, Ink is an intentionally small, Massachusetts-based marketing, advertising, graphic design and digital agency with big enthusiasm for successful client outcomes.  Since 1996, our award-winning agency has been delivering communication strategies and marketing materials to businesses and institutions of all sizes.

Located outside of Boston in Beverly, Massachusetts, our award-winning marketing team of strategic planners, skilled copywriters, creative graphic designers, digital designers and market researchers is driven by a desire to help our clients succeed.  We believe that marketing done right promotes your business and improves your bottom line. Cara McCarthy Hutchins

Cara is a right + left brain entrepreneur who builds brands by creating links between people and experiences. In 1997, Cara founded Communications, Ink an intentionally-small marketing company that provides a full-array of marketing services including branding, web design, logo and collateral development as well as market research, social media content generation and analytics. Cara has an AB from Vassar College and an MBA from Babson College. Prior to founding Communications, Ink, Cara worked on the mortgage trading desk of Solomon Brothers, as the Director of Investor Relations at Presidio Oil Company and as the Advertising Manager at State Street Bank & Trust Company where she was responsible for all global advertising and market research.

As a multi-talented generalist, Cara works with a wide range of organizations, using her breadth of knowledge to develop integrated communications programs that help her clients succeed. Her work as a marketing partner with her clients has earned numerous Hermes, Davey, Marcomm and Association of Graphic Communications awards.

In addition to her work at Communications, Ink, Cara is a passionate volunteer who has served on numerous boards and advisory committees including Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, The Women’s Fund of Essex County, Friends of Beverly Hospital, Pingree School, Mayor’s Office for the City of Beverly, Vassar College and the deBeaumont Foundation.

Cara lives in Beverly with her husband and their two teenage children where she enjoys pouring over political polls and finding the perfect shade of red lipstick.

Melissa Wilber

Creative Director

Melissa is a dynamic, creative professional that brings years of progressive client-side, agency and consulting experience to any given opportunity. She is a champion of brand growth and strives to achieve it on all levels. She has a deep understanding of how to pull the essence out of a project and make it shine by continuously brainstorming fresh ideas.

A graduate from the Art Institute of Atlanta, and continuing her education at General Assembly for front End Web Design, Melissa has created everything from packaging, web and catalog design to full-scale rebranding of well known companies across the country. She is no stranger to hiking a mountain on a photo shoot to get just the right shot or coming up with a quick-witted social media post to boost a brand. She lives in Gloucester, has two great boys and a dog named Daisy.

Leigh Mantoni-Stewart

Graphic Designer

Leigh is a Communication Design professional with deep experience creating marketing communications and managing design projects and teams. She has worked with retail clients as well as clients in financial services and the technology sector with a concentrated focus on branding, corporate identity and evolution.

In previous roles, Leigh helped build brand recognition at the Peabody Essex Museum, held the role of Director of Communication Design at ATG and was senior Designer for various Boston design consultancies. Leigh is a graduate of American University. Her work has garnered regional and national recognition including honors from the American Association of Museums, Print’s Regional Design Annual, Neena Papers and the Art Directors Club.

Cazzy Smith

Social Media Manager

Cazzy joins our team with over 20 years of marketing, project management and graphic design experience. As the social media has evolved, she has shifted her focus from design to educating clients to get the most out of their social media strategies. She enjoys helping people discover how social media can grow their businesses while teaching company owners and employees the skills to manage their own networking platforms.

Cazzy is a graduate of the University of Maine and continued her design and marketing education at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. Cazzy lives in Beverly and when she’s not scouring the Internet she enjoys working with horses and helps to organize local horse shows. She’s been told her Instagram account is a bit “horse heavy” but her professional opinion is that there’s no such thing.
